The Opportunity:
The Intake Caseworker works with young people who are referred to the Samaritans Youth Specialist Homelessness Service. As the first contact point for the service you will ensure Young People are appropriately assessed, triaged, and connected with appropriate services based on needs.

Essential Criteria
- Certificate IV in Community Services, Youth Services, or at least 2 years relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience in working with young people and families in crisis and in high risk situations
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in intake & assessment processes
- Understanding of, and ability to implement Trauma Informed Practices.
- Ability to build and maintain successful partnerships with other services.
- Understanding of Child Protection policy and procedures.
- Excellent organisational skills and experience managing competing priorities
- Ability to show initiative and work independently
- Demonstrated experience using word, excel and access programs
- Experience working with databases
- Strong attention to detail
- Understanding and practical application of confidentiality principles
- Demonstrated understanding of WHS responsibilities
Desirable
- Knowledge of trauma informed care and strengths-based practice
- An understanding of contemporary issues around youth homelessness
